Eat Out for Mamma’s Hands!

Mamma’s Hands and the Snoqualmie MOD Pizza have partnered together to support families in crisis in our community! All day on Thursday June 28th you can eat some delicious pizza, show the attached flyer to the cashier and 20% of your bill will be donated to help women and children at the House of Hope. Be sure to share the flyer and tell all of your colleagues, friends and family. Friends of Youth partners with House of Hope to provide youth counseling

We are excited to have the volunteer services of Mary Jane Almeda, Youth and Family Therapist, from Friends of Youth working with our youngest residents! Mary Jane believes that her life work is to serve the youth of all different kinds of backgrounds and to help them express themselves through art and creativity. She is originally from Southern California where she was a foster care sister to special needs children for 18 years. Summer-Fall 2013 Newsletter – A Look at Domestic Violence and Homelessness

“The statistics on domestic violence are indeed sobering, and they remind us why we started the HOUSE of HOPE program, and why we continue to ask for your support to maintain and enhance these important services for women and their children in crisis.

Many larger shelters serve hundreds of families each year, but because of the sheer numbers they need to serve in order to qualify for government funding, nearly all of them have restrictive time limits on how long clients can stay. Their purpose is to get people off the streets, referred to agencies, and on their way. Due to funding source requirements, the population they serve often bounces from shelter to shelter, and exhaust their options before they have received the fundamental help they need. They “fall through the cracks” in the system— 69% of these families return to homelessness…”
